Abstract:Objective The drilling mechanical and thermal analysis of bones is carried out under different drilling bits and drilling parameters aiming at reducing the drilling force and drilling temperature in the drilling process and decreasing the damage of surrounding bone tissue. Methods The bone drilling model is established by finite element simulation software AdvantEdge. Compared with the pig femur drilling experiment, this paper analyzes the simulated and experimental results of standard twist drill and three standard multi-facet drills at different speeds and feed rates. Results Comparison of the simulation and experiment shows that it is consistent that the influence of the drill bit, the drilling speed and the feed rate to the drilling force and the drilling temperature and the established simulation model is credible. Conclusions Under the same drilling conditions, multi-facet drill for drilling rubber has lower drilling force and drilling temperature than standard twist drill. These analyses provide a theoretical basis for the application of multi-facet drill in fracture surgery.
