    Abstract:

Objective From the perspective of experimental methodology, to study the effects of different aspect ratio on mechanical properties of soft planar tissue in uniaxial tension. Methods Select the New Zealand rabbit abdominal skin as object of the study. Multiple strip specimens in a direction from head to toe and the other direction perpendicular to it were uniaxial tensile tested until destroyed in integral aspect ratios between 2:1 to 6:1. The stress-strain curves were got and the data was fitted by one-dimensional Fung Type Model to calculate two material parameters. Results There was no significant difference in the parameters of rabbit abdominal specimens with different aspect ratios along the 0° and 90° directions(P>0.05). Conclusions Different aspect ratios between 2:1 to 6:1 have no effects on the uniaxial mechanical properties of the abdominal skin of rabbits.
