Any description concerning the experimental animals in medical papers should comply with the following requirements: (1)varieties and species, (2) sources, (3) genetic background, (4) microbial quality, (4) body mass, (6) grade, (7) feeding and experimental environment, (8)gender, (9) qualification certificate, (10) feeding way (including feeding type, nutrition level, lighting system, temperature, humidity), (11) precise number of animals, (12) state of health, (13) way of treatment, (14) control groups for Two-Way Analysis of Variance.

The experimental animals can be divided into 4 grades: the 1^st grade for general class, the 2^nd grade for clean class, the 3^rd grade for Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) class, the 4^th grade for sterile class (including gnotobiotic animals). Experiments for project at Ministry of Health level and graduate thesis must use experimental animals at the 2^nd grade or above.
